Stop-Motion Project

For the final digital media project we had to create a stop motion video. I choose to use play mobile people in a doll house setting to create a story showing the passage of time. As far as audio, I used a collection of classical music that follows the beat and mood of the scene it accompanies.

The Light Finds its Way

The lens flare is what makes this piece particularly interesting. You are literally able to see the sunlight through the orange dots that have formed to trace its path.

It'll Just be a Little Pinch

This is one of the images I am using as a frame in my stop-motion video. I changed the white balance setting on my camera to "tungsten", in order to get the blue illumination that makes the scene feel more like a hospital room. In contrast to my other images for the video, this really presents a jump in the overall feel, for the lighting is also contorting so that it would appear as if the bright flourescent hospital lights were illuminating the room.

Don't Hang Up

This image presents a different approach to the phone booth. Rather than using the high shutter, very blurred effect, I gave this one a crisp high contrast. However, like the other phone booth picture, this one also gives off an ominous feel, because of the boxy plain background, dark phone, and hauntingly bright fingernail polish.

Is it in you?

I thought the perspective of this image was really interesting because of how ambiguous it is. The eye tends to want to drift back in space and then bounce forward in space very quickly. The photo could be described as a trump l'oeil piece, for it takes one solid image of a drink dispenser and converts it into what appears to be Gatorade bottles flying forward in a hallway.

A Parallel Universe

This picture was actually taken out of a window of a moving car, which is why the foreground appears very blurry, while the background is focused and crisp. Although I wish the framing was better, I think the reflective quality of the building on the water adds a really nice parallelism to the composition.

Phonebooth Prisoner

I found this image to be frighteningly fascinating. The soft blur, reflective quality, emotional expression, and fuzzy lettering all contribute to its compelling effect.

Hoarding Nuts

This spur of the moment capture, provides a great stop action effect of a squirrel dashing across Main Street.

A Bittersweet Goodbye

This picture is especially captivating because of the way the grass fronds frame the sunset, and add a sense of foreground/background to the composition.

Slinking Into Deceit

This image was captured through the scanner. I slowly shuffled the cards around as the scanner moved over them, thus giving them a distorted twist. The altercation made to the cards provides the illusion of movement and adds a great deal of interest to the piece.

Fleeting Beauty

I took this picture as an experimentation with depth of field. The blurred flowers in the foreground and background, provide the focus of the shot to be directly of the butterfly. The focus also falls on the butterfly because of the color contrast between its black color with the white of the flowers.

Proceed with Caution

I was drawn to the intensity of this picture, for it captures the moment just before the cat's claws crest fully to the surface.

The Girl with the Curl in the Center of her Forehead

This week's photo was chosen for its unique angle portrayed through a reflective surface.

The Artists Wall

I chose this photograph because I feel it incorporates the individuality of a multitude of people.
